Sunday, Sunday...

I preached yesterday, on Grace. I led worship, too. Then I slept for five hours straight and missed Bible study...whoops! I never knew singing and speaking could drain you so much, but it did. Maybe next time I'll remember a glass of water....and sleep during the night like normal people.

nerves...
nerves will do it to you every time!

I did preached my first sermon, and just wanted to go home and crash too...

aside from that it went well I hope? Isn't leading service a wonderfully humbling experience???

oh, man, yeah! Totally humbling, and totally exciting all at once. The thing I'm learning more and more about, is all this planning, and sometimes you get to use all the material, and other times you get 'stuck' or 'hung up' on one specific thing....you just have to pray that what actually comes out of your mouth is what God wants after all....then again, I don't want the things I say on Sunday to overpower the person I am every other day of the week...the whole practice what you preach principle!

I suppose I'm lucky in the planning phase of it - the Anglican Book of Alternative services lays out pretty clearly what goes where - creeds, hymns, time for prayer, sermon... my PPOL (principal and practice of liturgy class) actually put together a tick sheet on how to lead a service and what can/should go where! very helpful - but still doesn't take away from all the planning! I had to officiate at evening prayer last week (complete with cassock and surplice - I looked like a priest, spoke the words - it was a huge rush!)
You're so right - actually preaching makes you very aware of that saying "practice what you preach!" :-)
